Journalist L.Shawnawazkhan honoured with
‘Siddhartha Journalist Award-2010’

Erode; Dec 1: Journaist L.Shawnawazkhan a prominent scholar who
possesses a pleasing disposition, veteran journalist whose name
becomes synonymous with truthfulness in the field of progressive
media journalism was honoured with Siddhartha Journalist
Award-2010 by the administration of Siddhartha Institution in
Erode for his outstanding contribution as
Journalist for bringing out with current issues and events in his
print media,Namakaha fortnightly and also in his web media news in
tamil.webtv., the best stories, presenting them in the most
appropriate manner, skillful with his news and views both on paper
and in electronic media on the occasion of the National News paper
day, organized by Siddhartha Institution in Erode.
Handing over the prestigious Siddhartha Journalist Award-2010 to
Journalist L.Shawnawazkhan, District Collector of Erode,
Mr.T.Soundiah expressed that the Awardee L.Shawnawazkhan is well
learned person and a true lover of mankind and he produces the most
authoritative and high-quality news in print media ‘Namakaha’
fortnightly and also in Television and web media. He lauded the role
played by journalists in society and said the media had a
significant part to play in improving the state of a nation and
giving it a proper direction.
Mr.T.Soudiah lauded the services of journalists, photographers,
artists, who had served in various newspapers over years. The
felicitation was organized to mark the National News Paper Day.
District collector said that a well-planned journalism attends to
listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, representing and
using the appropriate medium help students grow in their language
skills and broaden the ways in which students can understand and
communicate their learning, and a particular issue may be written in
a variety of ways, depending on whether its publication or
production will be in a print medium or in an electronic broadcast
medium understanding the relationships between various types of
media and the effects of technological innovations upon the
traditional styles of presentation.
Dr.K.Govindaraju, Chairman, Tamilnadu Board of Continuing Education
appreciated the organizers for conferring this prestigious
Journalist SIDDARTHA Award-2010 on Mr.L.Shawnawazkhan, a young, but
matured media person as he keeps himself up-to-date with the
trends and developments at national and international schools in
India and abroad, and in the higher and job oriented education
sector, well-versed with writing a wide-variety of news features,
ranging from Analytical features to Human interest features,
First-person accounts, Explanatory features, Descriptive interviews,
outstanding research skills and an eye for detail with information
and regularly interviews people, correcting the source, analyses
data and links it to prevalent occurrences generating ideas for
stories regularly.
The president of the function, Dr.Jeevananthan mentioned that ''By
honouring Mr.L.Shawnawazkhan, the journalists, we are providing
strength to a pillar of democracy,'' and further said the award has
no price but the sentiments involved in it are priceless. The award,
instituted is aimed at honouring journalists who have been
dedicating themselves to the service of the nation.
L.Shawnawazkhan thanked the organizers of the award and said “It’s a
great feeling” to receive such prestigious Siddhartha Journalist
Award from Mr.T.Soundiah, District Collector of Erode. “I’m happy
that people realize how important it is to get your voice out.”
L.Shawnawazkhan also inspired that audience ‘So you want to be a
journalist? ‘Provides pointers on some of the key skills
‘wannabe’ journalists will need to be in a position to get
themselves a job. L.Shawnawazkhan said that has a keen interest and
good understanding of social media and in the power of collaborative
journalism. He is determined to be involved in progressive
journalism. L.Shawnawazkhan shared that the mass media today
wield an enormous influence over daily life. He said that the
job of the journalist is challenging and Journalists have to use
their thinking, speaking, and writing to present information in a
factual, straightforward manner, clearly defining the difference
between fact and opinion.
The Awardee L.Shawnawazkhan appealed the Students to listen, speak,
read, write, view, and explore thoughts, ideas, feelings, comprehend
and respond personally and critically to oral, written, manage ideas
and information, and enhance the clarity and artistry of
communication. Specific learning outcomes identify the component
knowledge, skills, and attitudes that contribute to these general
learning outcomes and include attention to media literacy. These
outcomes are reflected in the foundational and specific learning
objectives of this curriculum. He also expressed that it is
essential that the information given in press should be pure and
untainted. When the press errs, all of society lives with the
mistake.
Jawahar
Arumugam, a senior journalist was also honoured and narrated that he
had wide range of challenges while reporting some crucial issues. He
added that the journalists should have social responsibility and
public interest with critical thinking, managing information and
ideas and disseminating information with inspiring thought.
Earlier, District Collector T.Soundiah visited the Newspaper display
and appreciated the students and teachers for such collection of
News papers. The Head Master Mr. Mohamed Ghose welcomed the
gathering and teacher Mrs.Sharmila Banu proposed vote of thanks. -Namakaha
